Private Lessons are available as an intimate introduction to ceramics or a deep-dive into more advanced techniques.
Meet our instructors
We love our talented team of instructors! Each a skilled artist in their own right, this faculty brings decades of combined training, fine arts education, and experience to the table.
Our most flexible offering
Seeking a little more 1:1 time or specialized instruction? Consider a private lesson! Our private lessons are typically two hours in length and can accommodate 1 – 6 people at any skill level.
Private lessons are best booked through the form below. We’ll get back to you promptly to set a date and time that works with your schedule and gain a sense of what you’re hoping to get out of your lesson. You’ll be paired with one of our talented instructors and we’ll fine-tune the details to suit your needs.
Our lessons are centered around learning in a fun, positive environment. While we hope you enjoy your final pieces, we cannot guarantee outcomes.
Private Lessons vs. Events — which is right for you?
Private lessons and our Mini / Private Events are both great ways to work with clay, but they’re designed for very different goals.
Private lessons are best if you’re looking for:
- Focused, skill-based instruction (1:1 or small group learning)
- Help working toward specific techniques or outcomes
- Ongoing or repeat sessions (a series of lessons over time)
- A more hands-on studio experience — including learning how to set up, work, and clean up in a shared studio environment
Mini Events and Private Events are best if you’re looking for:
- Social, celebratory occasion learning (birthdays, date nights, team building, etc.)
- A relaxed “come in and have fun while learning” format
- Fully hosted sessions where we handle setup, cleanup, glazing, and firing
Choose between Wheel Throwing and Hand Building
Wheel Throwing lessons include learning to wedge and centre clay, throw basic shapes and vessels and an introduction to glaze techniques.
Hand Building lessons cover the fundamentals of forming clay vessels and sculpture by hand. Forming techniques will include pinching, coiling, slab rolling, sculpting, carving and attaching.
Advanced participant? Lessons in glaze science and other specialty techniques can be available upon request.
Pricing (2-hour session)
Prices include everything you need! Clay, instruction, all necessary tools, and firing fees for two pieces per person.
One Person – $185
Two People – $245
Three People – $325
Four People – $405
Five People – $490
Six People – $565
More than Six? See our Private Events.
Kid-Friendly!
While our classes and date night events are primarily for adults, private lessons welcome the littles in your life. However, as clay practice does require a certain amount of dexterity and can be more challenging for small hands, we recommend reaching out for more details on whether or not this activity is appropriate for your group. Typically, our minimum age is 12.
Booking
Please request at least 72 hours in advance. Availability is contingent upon our instructors’ schedules.
