MEET THE THERAPISTS / COUNSELLORS

ASHLEY PERRY

Ashley Perry, pediatric speech-language pathologist, seated in a tranquil desert with the sun behind her.

Hi! I am a pediatric speech-language pathologist, but more importantly, a passionate, relationship-driven explorer who brings these qualities to my work as an SLP. I believe wholeheartedly that building engaging and individualized connections to my little people is the most important foundation for success in therapy, regardless of their targeted communication goals. Fun, purposeful play and connection are the cornerstones I strive for during every session.

I’ve worked with children and families in an intervention context for over 20 years, receiving my MSc. SLP from the U of A in 2011 and as a ‘front line’ staff prior. I’ve gained extensive experience providing services in homes, schools (inclusive and specialized sites) and community settings in Alberta and abroad (Uganda!). Assessments and therapy are provided for children with delays or disabilities from birth – teenage years.

When I’m not working, I am slightly obsessed with buying, planting and propagating house plants, hanging out with my ‘(hopefully) therapy-dog-in-training’ puppy Harlowe, sneaking away for some time in nature and fantasizing about my next travelling adventure! I’m so excited that I get the pleasure of providing SLP services out of the gorgeous and invigorating spaces of Workshop Studios, and outdoors in the surrounding natural spaces of the neatest and quirkiest little community of Inglewood, where I am also lucky to be a resident!

FEEL BETTER CLINIC

Kelsie Hjorleifson RMT and Danny Martin M.OMSc in their clean, contemporary physical therapy office located the historic Grain Exchange building.

Feel Better is a multi-disciplinary clinic offering Massage Therapy and Osteopathic Therapy. Direct billing is available.

Kelsie Hjorleifson RMT Massage Therapist

Guided by trauma-informed practices, Kelsie utilizes the slow, relaxing flow of relaxation massage with focused deep-tissue techniques to best suit each client’s comfort and best achieve results. Each session is an opportunity to tune into the body and feel better.

Danny Martin M.OMSc Osteopathic Manual Therapist

Osteopathy is a study of association. It’s seeing the way systems of the body, like muscles, arteries, nerves, and organs are connected to one another and how they simultaneously share stress and relief. When we have a positive effect on one part, it cascades outwards to the whole body. It becomes a holistic approach to healing.

KRISTIN BOETTGER

Kristin Boettger, Canadian Certified Counsellor and Registered Art Therapist in an art therapy space with art materials visible.

I’m Kristin- I’m a visual artist and have also been practicing as an art therapist and counsellor for over 20 years.  Combining art and therapy has always been a natural fit for me. I see healing as a creative process and aim to bring that perspective to everything I do.  I believe deep work can be done with joy and humour and I aim to provide a safe, inviting space for people to feel, learn and heal.  On a good day, I’m flowing between counselling clients, painting, drawing, gardening, yoga-ing, walking my dog and spending time with friends and family.  My learning edge right now is participating in a working group to examine systemic barriers to mental health for racialized youth, as I work primarily with young people in YYC.  I’m also in the process of developing some online offerings and look forward to launching those in Spring 2023.
